“Come let us sing to the Lord!”
st-nicholas-music-celebration-7-12-09-4.jpgAs we approach the holiday season, we have an opportunity to share our voices for our Christmas Choir. Jeff Eskew, our interim organist and choir director, will be leading rehearsals leading up to our Christmas Eve services at 5:00pm and 11:00pm.  The scheduled dates for rehearsals are Wednesday evenings November 4, 11, 25, December 2, and 16 from 7:00 to 8:15pm.
As we begin to build momentum for our regular choir, this is a great time to get in on the ground level. All skill levels are welcome to sing in the choir as well as youth and adult singers. Choir is a great way to connect with people as well as offer your voice in praise to the Lord. Please e-mail Jeff Eskew at jeffeskew@yahoo.com or call him at 706-575-9611 ASAP if you plan on attending, so he can prepare and make appropriate plans.

The Hiking Preacher Part 6

Big Poplar Loop Part 2-Sawtooth Trail
5.4 miles, 2 hours 15 minutes

This is the sixth in a series of posts about my weekly hikes on the Pine Mountain Trail.

This one too.Back on the trail again after another brief hiatus. Last week I had a meeting that I couldn’t miss, and planned to hike in the afternoon, but was just feeling lousy, so I took the week off. I’ve been fighting off some mysterious malady the last few weeks, but decided not hiking would only make me feel worse, so I went out on a perfect day, temperature-wise, in the mid-60s. I decided to go back and finish that piece of trail on the Big Poplar Loop that I missed, which is technically called the Sawtooth Trail. It’s only 2.7 miles from Fox Den to Mollyhugger Hill, so it’s not a bad hike on which to backtrack so you can avoid having to call in a pickup. Read more

All Saints Day is quickly approaching on Sunday, November 1 and we will once again be gathering in the Memory Garden at the beginning of both services (weather permitting) to remember the many saints of our lives that have gone on into glory.

Please help us by e-mailing the full names of anyone you would particularly like to remember on that day to Fr. Jeff at fatherjeff@stnicholashamilton.org or by adding their name to the list in the Narthex.

abby-brownYou all know that we have fantastic young people at St. Nicholas. All of them are talented with great personalities and genuine hearts. Most of the youth at St. Nicholas are involved in something: acolyting, reading, youth group, the Teen Class. It’s one of our goals that St. Nicholas is a place where they are honored, nurtured, educated in faith, and loved.

But not only are our young people doing great things here within our walls, but they are accomplishing many wonderful things out in the world, making God, their families, and their church very proud.
