All Saints Sunday will be a BIG day at St. Nicholas. The Right Rev. Robert Wright will make his first official visit to us! He will dedicate our new building as well as confirm and receive into the Episcopal Church anyone who wishes to do so. If you would like to become an official member of St. Nicholas, this will be a great time to do it. Please email fatherjeff@stnicholashamilton.org if you (or your child) are wishing to be baptized, confirmed, or received on that day.

At long last, we are starting our new building project! Join us after church on February 16th at 1:00 pm for the ceremonial groundbreaking as we celebrate and give thanks to God for the continued work of our congregation on this project. After the groundbreaking, we will have a reception. It’s an exciting time in our church’s history, so please join us! If you have questions about the new building or would like to contribute to the building fund, please contact Fr. Jeff.

Rendering of the New Building

Comments Off on Rendering of the New Building

The Building Committee has been working all summer with our architects Hank Houser and John Cearley on the design of our next building. This past week, the committee met again and are finishing up the interiors of the new building. For now, we are excited to show you a rendering of the exterior of the building as we expect it to look.

The 2800 square foot building will add on to our existing building, doubling the size of the kitchen, and adding a new bigger nursery, robing areas for choir, Eucharistic ministers, and acolytes, bathrooms, two larger classrooms with a partition that opens to make one large room, and new offices for Fr. Jeff, Sam, and the administrative assistant.

The interior plans will go before the Vestry on August 26 for their approval, then the architects will work on construction documents over the next 6 weeks so they can go out to bid. We won’t have a groundbreaking date until we bid out the project to a contractor.

Please continue to pray for this project as we move into the coming phases. If you have any questions, contact Building Committee chair Phebe Robertson.

The theme of this year’s Adult Formation has been reconciliation.  What is the result of this theme?  The Bible is a wellspring of knowledge especially useful concerning relationships — applicable and practical to anyone who believes, at any time in human history.  As a teaching vehicle, the general term “fruit” is used to illustrate practical moral and spiritual instruction for those who believe.  Come and join us this Sunday, April 28, with Bob Hamilton and let us discuss what sorts of fruit are the results of this year.

I Saw The Sign!

If you get to the corner of highway 116 and Mobley Road, you will see something happening!

For about 4 years now, St. Nicholas has been in the process of getting a new sign. The old sign was placed on one corner of the property and wasn’t easily viewable. Then, in November of 2011, a tornado came and took that old sign down. Luckily, we got some insurance money to use toward building a new one.

Soon after I arrived at St. Nicholas, a founding member, Isabel Emmerich died. She was such a sweet, dear soul, and was a great supporter of our church. When she died, she left some money to St. Nicholas, and her family wished that it would be used for a new sign.

Since then, the sign has been in the works. The major holdup in this project was that we decided we needed to have an entire master site plan before we put anything like a sign up. What if the site plan called for a different sign completely? It made sense to delay the project since we were thinking of the overall campus. I’m really glad we did that, but that’s why this project has been in the works for almost 4 years. Read more
