bread-of-angelsTasting the Bread of Angels, Adult Formation, May 27, 9:45am:

Barbara Taylor Brown is an Episcopal priest whose many collections of sermons are presented in her books.  This book, Bread of Angels, was described as follows: “…day by day God continues to be made known to us in the simple things that sustain our lives”.  We will take one of her sermons and reflect on her message as it applies to our life and to our gratitude for the sacrifices of our soldiers as we enter this Memorial Day weekend. bibleJoin us for Episcopal 101, Sunday, April 15, at 9:45 am. Scripture is vital to who we are as Episcopalians. The Bible is more than just ancient tales, it’s a rich library that tells the story of God interacting with his beloved Creation. In many ways, we are continuing that story today. But it’s important to read the Bible on our journey with God. In this month’s Episcopal 101, we will continue our exploration of the Bible by looking at the New Testament. Fr. Jeff will talk about the development of our Christian Scriptures and we’ll discuss why these texts are important to us today.

Are you new to St. Nicholas? Are you new to the Episcopal style of faith and worship? Are you a long-time Episcopalian who needs a jumpstart on why we do things the way we do them? Then you need to join our Episcopal 101 class! This monthly class is a perfect place to learn more about our church and what makes us unique as Episcopalians. Each month, we explore different topics that are important to us. If you are thinking about becoming an Episcopalian, this class is very important. If you want more information, please contact Fr. Jeff.

fine-with-godAdult Formation Class, November 13 and 27th, 9:45 am: Bob Hamilton will discuss the book “I’m Fine with God…It’s the Christians I Can’t Stand” by Bruce Bickel and Stan Jantz. We are all affected by the difference of everything from the Mennonites to the extreme fundamentalist Christians. Recently, Mormonism has been blasted as a cult. If someone asks you if you are a Christian, what do you say? If you ask someone to come to church that you know, what would you say if you are asked if it’s a Christian church? Is the word Christian becoming a negative term? Join this class as we continue our spiritual journey by answering these questions.
