What Does St. Nicholas Mean To You?

hfghgd.jpgSometimes we can get so wrapped up in something that we forget why it’s so important to us. Church is no different. No matter how involved in the life of church you are, you can easily slip into a mode where you simply go through the motions. If you’re a casual “pew-sitter,” you can quickly see church as a place that you go every week or few weeks and not notice the inner-workings of how the church functions. If you are a lay leader in the church, you can quickly fall into a pattern of giving your time, energy, and money and forget the reason in doing so. Read more

You are cordially invited to our Festival of Lessons and Carols, December 19, 2010 at 6:00pm!

The choir of St. Nicholas has been working very hard under the tutelage of music director Sam Roney to provide a spiritually enriching and beautiful sound to bring you into the Christmas season. We will hear 9 Lessons from Scripture and many favorite carols, choir anthems, and instrumental music. There will be music for organ, trumpet, and flute.

This is St. Nicholas’ gift to the community, so please invite friends, neighbors, and family to the event.

Christmas ParadeJoin us on Saturday, December 4 at 4:00pm as we gather at the Old Carver Middle School in Hamilton to decorate our Christmas float in this year’s Hamilton Christmas Parade! The parade starts at 5:30, and we need lots of St. Nicholas folks to walk with us and display the warmth of our church to the community. It will be a great event, so come and join us as we spread the love of Christ!

Here are pictures from last year’s parade and also the Christmas Tea:

This weekend, Peggy Martin, Graham Horne, Heather Roper, our new youth intern Cami Fanning, and I are taking 16 youth (ages 10-18) to Camp Mikell in Toccoa, Georgia. This is going to be a wonderful opportunity for our youth, many of whom are new to St. Nicholas, to spend time getting to know each other better and building community as a group.

We will be leaving Friday afternoon at 4:00pm, which will get us to Camp Mikell pretty late. Please pray for safe travel and little traffic as we go through Atlanta.

At Camp Mikell, we will be participating in the ropes course, which is designed to give groups an opportunity to get to know each other, break down barriers, and establish trust. Our theme of the weekend is “Building Community,” so everything we do, including our drive up, our worship, and all our activities will be about starting this school year off with building long-lasting friendships.
