img_0564Say hello to St. Nicholas’ newest members! On Sunday afternoon, Bob Hamilton and Barbara Walker were received into the fellowship of the Episcopal Church and David Walker reaffirmed his baptismal vows. They were among 200 people who were either confirmed, reaffirmed, or received at Sunday’s service in Atlanta. As was reported in this week’s Connecting:

The April 29 diocesan confirmation service at the Cathedral of St. Philip filled the nave to the brim — balcony seating too — with more than 1,000 people.  Bishop of Atlanta J. Neil Alexander was assisted by the Rt. Rev. Frank Allan in confirming and receiving more than 200 new Episcopalians. Photo below: Bill Monk   View more photos here. Read more

bibleJoin us for Episcopal 101, Sunday, April 15, at 9:45 am. Scripture is vital to who we are as Episcopalians. The Bible is more than just ancient tales, it’s a rich library that tells the story of God interacting with his beloved Creation. In many ways, we are continuing that story today. But it’s important to read the Bible on our journey with God. In this month’s Episcopal 101, we will continue our exploration of the Bible by looking at the New Testament. Fr. Jeff will talk about the development of our Christian Scriptures and we’ll discuss why these texts are important to us today.

Are you new to St. Nicholas? Are you new to the Episcopal style of faith and worship? Are you a long-time Episcopalian who needs a jumpstart on why we do things the way we do them? Then you need to join our Episcopal 101 class! This monthly class is a perfect place to learn more about our church and what makes us unique as Episcopalians. Each month, we explore different topics that are important to us. If you are thinking about becoming an Episcopalian, this class is very important. If you want more information, please contact Fr. Jeff.

An instructed Eucharist is the place to find out! Fr. Jeff will lead this special service on Thursday, November 17, at 6:30pm. Instead of a sermon, the service includes periods of explanations about the different aspects of our liturgy.
