Epiphany Party Photos!

We had a wonderful evening last Friday night for our first Epiphany party. We invited the entire church, plus some other friends and neighbors, and had a blast! The house was packed with 70 guests in every nook and cranny. The amount of food was staggering, with a feast set before us. It was a fun evening, and we hope to host the parish again at our house in the future. Molly and I are so blessed to have our home in which we can host such events. In fact, it was on the day of Epiphany last year where we first found our Hill Street house!

Thank you to everyone who came, and everyone who brought food and drinks. Thank you especially to Molly who organized the whole party!

It’s crunch time at the Hill Street house!

Painting is almost finished. The floors have their first coat of stain on them. The tile was laid today. Tomorrow comes the carpet. Only a few days to go and we move into our new home!

Here are some shots of the progress:

The Home-Owning Priest

The house on Friday.

The house on the day it snowed.

Yes, it’s official, we are finally homeowners again! After a long waiting period to sell our house in Savannah, we finally closed on our house last Friday, thanks to the work of our realtor Bob Patterson.

As you have seen and probably heard, the house we bought is an historic house, built in 1915. It has a rich history in Hamilton, with many people knowing the Shafer family who lived there for many years. Some folks have even given us history that pre-dates the Shafer’s, which we hope to learn more about. Despite it’s age, the house is in great shape and needs a bit of work, which we are rushing to get done in the next few weeks before we move in. We have already had one paint party, and are having another this Saturday from 9:00 to 3:00. Read more

Paint Party at the Jackson’s

The house on Friday.

The house on Friday.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the cleaning day last weekend, despite the snowy weather. We are so thankful to have so many of you who have offered to help in any way you can. It is so wonderful to be so supported.

If all goes according to plan, we will be closing on the Hill Street house on Friday, February 19. Our plan, after we sign all the papers and it’s official, is to go over to the house and begin pulling up carpet. We could use anyone’s help with this. We are not sure exactly what time yet, though, but we hope it will be Friday afternoon.

On Saturday at 9:00 a.m., we plan on getting the bulk of the painting done. Don’t worry about detail work, we just need people who can get paint on the large portions of the walls. We will provide lunch for everyone, so come ready to work and eat. I have no idea how many supplies to get because I don’t know how many folks will come, so if you have any paint rollers, brushes, pans, etc., bring them!

Thank you all for making this house feel like our home!

Cleaning Day at the Jackson’s

Hill Street HouseAs many of you know, Fr. Jeff & Molly are about to buy a new house on Hill Street in Hamilton. There have been many people who have expressed an interest in helping them get their new house ready to move into. While they don’t close on the house until February 19, there are a few things that we all can do to help so that when they do close, we can get started immediately with the cosmetic work like painting.
This Friday and Saturday from 1:00-5:00pm, Jeff & Molly will be at the house for a Clean Up Day to wipe down the walls, baseboards, mantels, bathroom and kitchen cleaning, spackling any holes, etc. If you can come one or both days (Molly says it probably won’t take two days, but you never know!), they could use your help! They’ll have cleaning supplies available. If you have a tall ladder, you might want to bring it for the high spots.
We all have gifts to give and everyone at St Nicholas are free to share those gifts so please think about it and come join us as we make this a fun and blessed event for the Jackson’s!
Thank you!!
