stfrancisBlessing of the Animals is October 9th at 5:00pm.

Fr. Jeff will bless all creatures great and small as we celebrate the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. All beloved animals, including teddy bears, are welcome. We will meet outdoors in front of the church at 5:00 p.m. For the safety of all humans and beasts, please have your vaccinated pet under control. We will have home-made dog treats, water, and human treats available. Come celebrate and bless these marvelous creatures of God’s creation.

Katherine Genova and the wonderful dogs from the Humane Society of Harris County will be attending. St. Nicholas will host a Microchip Clinic in connection with the event. If you are planning on getting a puppy, this would be a perfect time!

Let Linda Sawyer know if you will be able to help: hogback@wavetel.us.

The Mens Group has decided to take on the repainting of the church.  We can use as much  help as possible.  We will have the paint at the church and would ask that you bring paint brushes, step ladders and extension ladders when you come.  The church will be pressure washed the week of October 10 and painting will begin on October 15 at 8:00am.  We plan on painting the main body of the church on the 15 and the trim the following Saturday, October 22.  Contact Larry Nordin at nordinl@bellsouth.net or Bill Caudill at bilocau@aol.com.

Dear St. Nicholas friends and family,

This Sunday, September 25, I encourage you all to attend our Town Hall Meeting at 9:30am. We will be joined by our architect, Hank Houser, of Houser Walker Associates of Atlanta. Hank will lead us through the first step of developing a Master Site Plan for St. Nicholas. A Master Site Plan is a visual phase-by-phase plan of what we all think St. Nicholas’ physical plant should look like in the next 5, 10, 20 years, and beyond.

St. Nicholas will commemorate the Tenth Anniversary of September 11, 2001 by adding a special plot in our Memory Garden to honor the victims of the 9/11 attack.  The loose offering from both services on September 11th will be designated for materials.  If you would like to donate or help with the planting, please contact the church at 706.628.7272 or stnicholas.harriscounty@gmail.com

sept-11

O God, as we remember the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attack on our nation, continue to look with compassion on the whole human family.  Console those who still suffer and grieve, and give them comfort and hope for the future. Take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; and unite us in bonds of love. Help us work though our struggles and confusion to acheive your purposes on earth. We pray that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Episcopal 101 meets THIS THURSDAY, September 15 at 6:30 pm.

This month’s Episcopal 101 will focus on that nagging question in the back of your mind — “What is God Calling Me to Do?”
Are you new to St. Nicholas? Are you new to the Episcopal style of faith and worship? Are you a long-time Episcopalian who needs a jumpstart on why we do things the way we do them? Then you need to join our Episcopal 101 class! This monthly class is a perfect place to learn more about our church and what makes us unique as Episcopalians. Each month, we explore different topics that are important to us. If you are thinking about becoming an Episcopalian, this class is very important.
