Episcopal 101 Thursday, July 21, 6:30pm
This month’s Episcopal 101 will focus on music! Sam Roney, our music director, will lead the class to inform you on our musical tradition in the Episcopal Church and at St. Nicholas and to get your thoughts on how music is important to you in worship. Don’t worry, you don’t have to sing in this session! All are welcome!
Are you new to St. Nicholas? Are you new to the Episcopal style of faith and worship? Are you a long- time Episcopalian who needs a jumpstart on why we do things the way we do them? Then you need to join our Episcopal 101 class! This monthly class is a perfect place to learn more about our church and what makes us unique as Episcopalians. Each month, we explore different topics that are important to us. If you are thinking about becoming an Episcopalian, this class is very important. If you want more information, please contact Fr. Jeff.

Advent/ Christmas 2009
Happen to miss Christmas Eve and/or Lessons & Carols at St. Nicholas Church? Well, you missed a treat! The music by our new choir, guest singers & special soloists certainly uplifted our High Holy Days worship experiences! Joyful music of the season soared through our beautifully decorated church.
Thanks to each you who participated in our special services during Advent and Christmas. Your congregational singing brought our music up to an even higher level of celebration! I hope our Allen Organ (“the organ transplant”), will continue to inspire you to sing joyfully in weekly worship!
Please extend a word of thanks to our St. Nicholas Choir members. Their faithful commitment went above and beyond “the call of duty” during December. Several extra rehearsals were needed to prepare our seasonal music. The choir enthusiastically shared their time and talents in preparation for Christmas 2009. Read more
Organ Transplant

No, not that kind of organ transplant! Although I’ve been resisting the urge to use the term “organ donor” numerous times.
For those who have not heard, God provided for us once again through the generosity of St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church in Smyrna. In November, I was at Diocesan Council when an announcement was made that an organ was on auction. The Vestry and I had been wondering what we might do to procure a new organ, so I approached the front table at Council and asked about the organ for auction. Bishop Alexander happened to be standing there, and warned me that that organ was not worth looking in to, but St. Benedict’s, a new congregation that had just bought a new organ for their new building, might have one available.
