This past week, we’ve had a string of podcasts added to the site.
First, on Tuesday evening, I did an Instructed Eucharist for our Tuesday evening class and as part of Episcopal 101. If you have any questions about how we worship or why we do the things we do in worship, check out this podcast.
Then, this morning we celebrated the sacrament of baptism as we welcomed Luke Evan Townsend into the household of God. As always, you can listen to this week’s sermon by following the link below or by clicking on the box on the right of the screen. If you happen to miss church one Sunday, you can at least hear the sermon of the last week.

Finally, this evening, the Strategic Planning Committee had their latest meeting. This is the committee that is looking at the long-range plan of St. Nicholas, including our ongoing conversation about future buildings that we may build to expand our physical plant. These meetings are open, and you can hear what we discussed by listening to the podcast below.

This past Sunday, I preached on 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 and John 2:1-11. My focus was that all our gifts are varied, but the same Spirit urges us to use them. Even Jesus needed to be nudged by his mama to do that trick with the wine. And something miraculous ended up happening. (You can listen to the full sermon by clicking on the podcast box to the right.——->)
In the sermon, I asked for everyone to write down their gifts, both the silly and the serious, the spiritual and the vocational. We need to know what all we can do so that we can rely on one another. We gathered the gifts and brought them forward during the Offertory. Read more

Wolfden Loop Part 2
WJSP Tower Parking Lot to Mile Marker 20 and back: 6 miles, 3 hours 15 minutes
This is the tenth in a series of posts about my weekly hikes on the Pine Mountain Trail.
I’ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is that this is my last Hiking Preacher post. The good news is that I’ve gotten such a great response to it, that I decided to rename my blog The Hiking Priest! I changed it to “priest” because, even though I am a preacher, priest encapsulates more of who I am. This will definitely not be my last post about hiking, however, as I will continue my weekly hikes in preparation for my sermons. Today concluded my second trip on the PMT, and it’s definitely become part of my spiritual discipline. In fact, I can always tell if I’m having a bad week and directly connect it to the fact that I didn’t spend time with God on the trails.
