Other Mission Projects

In addition to FOCUS, there are many opportunities to serve the community and the world at St. Nicholas. We are always looking for more projects, so if you have any ideas or suggestions, please let us know!

  • Relay For Life: Relay For Life® is the American Cancer Society’s signature event that brings more than 3.5 million people from 4,900 communities across the country together each year to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too much. Relay For Life® is a fun-filled, overnight event that empowers everyone to help fight cancer by raising money and awareness to support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission. Teams of people camp out at local high schools, parks, or fairgrounds and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relay For Life® symbolizes the hope that people lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face the disease have support, and that one day cancer will be eliminated. • Mission Trips: Perhaps one of the most spiritually intense and exciting ways to engage in mission is by participating in short-term or long-term mission trips. St. Nicholas is beginning to discern where and when we will go on a short-term mission trip, so if you are interested, please talk to Fr. Jeff.
  • Compassion International: Many of our members sponsor children through Compassion International, which exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. Today, Compassion helps more than 1 million children in 25 countries.
