Staff
The Staff of St. Nicholas are other leaders in the congregation, who handle very important parts of our ministry. None of them are full-time, but they all put in the effort of full-time staffers.
Sam Roney, Director of Music: Sam is a native of Columbus, Georgia. He attended local schools in the Columbus area and began his undergraduate studies at The Schwob Department of Music at Columbus State in 1971. Areas of study for his Bachelor of Music Degree included organ, voice, opera, musical theatre, and piano. Additional graduate work continued in music education organ, voice, music theatre and choral conducting, at Columbus State and Georgia State Universities.
Sam studied organ with Ronald Rice, Organist-Choirmaster of St. Phillips Cathedral, Atlanta, Ga. where interned in the Men and Boy Choir in 1976. Instruction in voice was under Thomas A. Williams of Norfolk Virginia and Richard Davis of CSU. Other areas of study include improvisation with Gerre Hancock, service playing with Frederick Swann, Riverside Church, and numerous vocal workshops in vocal pedagogy, opera, and musical theatre throughout the United States and Europe.
His work in music ministry and education exceed 35 years. During this time he has developed a variety of graded choir ministries (ages K-3- adult), handbell and chime ministries and youth musical drama groups for numerous area churches His duties as organist-choirmaster began in 1975.
“My two greatest passions are in music education and ministry. I find great joy in equipping musicians to be able to engage their talents in both the church and community”.
Currently Sam is on the Fine Arts Staff of Calvary Christian School, Columbus, Ga., teaches voice, piano, and organ in his private studio, the Music Connection, and continues to be an active advocate for music ministry, music education and The Arts in our community.

Dorothy Webster, Financial Administrator: Dorothy handles the finances of St. Nicholas under the advisement of the Rector, Vestry, and Finance Committee. She works in the church office three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and is always helpful with anything anyone needs. You can contact Dorothy at Tobijugg@aol.com.
Katie Linney, Administrative Assistant: Katie works part time as the administrative assistant, supporting the Rector and all
the ministries of the church. Her role is focused on secretarial, administrative, and hospitality tasks. Katie’s office hours are Monday- Friday, 9am-1pm. You can contact Katie at katielinney@stnicholashamilton.org.
